Gene Vollendorf, MBA CFA, Portfolio Manager
Gene Vollendorf is the founder and Portfolio Manager of the Wolverine Opportunity Fund, responsible for investment policy including asset allocation, portfolio construction and stock selection for the funds managed by Wolverine Management. Mr. Vollendorf, a specialist in Canadian small cap equities, has over 20 years of experience spanning three investment cycles. He was portfolio manager at Savoy Capital Management and Bissett & Associates. Mr. Vollendorf is one of the few managers that avoided the market crash of 2008 entirely by shuttering his funds.

Prior to founding the Wolverine Opportunity Fund, he was the founder and Chief Investment Officer of Savoy Capital Management Ltd. where he managed the Gladiator Fund, a core Canadian long/short equity investment mandate from inception in 2001 to August 2006. Prior to founding Savoy, he was the Portfolio Manager of Specialty Equities at Bissett & Associates Investment Management Ltd. in Calgary, Canada, where he successfully managed one of the best performing small cap funds in Canada. Prior to joining Bissett, he worked in New York and Boston for Salomon Brothers Inc and Putnam Capital Management Ltd., respectively in their high yield groups. Mr. Vollendorf is a registered portfolio manager in Ontario and Alberta, Canada. Mr. Vollendorf is a Chartered Financial Analyst and has an MBA from the University of Chicago. He also has a Bachelor of Commerce degree from the University of Calgary. He is a member of EO, Entrepreneur Organization. Gene and his wife Jennifer are active in sports and activities with their two children Max and Sarah. He also enjoys international travel.
